Getting to Know You:
Digging Deeper:
Taking it Home:
- Have you ever undertaken a project where you thought you would just wing it? How did it turn out?
Digging Deeper:
- Read Ezekiel 3:16-21, Matthew 28:18-20, Acts 20:17-27, Ephesians 4:11-13 and Colossians 3:12-17. According to these verses, to what are believers called? According to Ephesians 4:11-13, how does the calling of a Christian differ from that of one called to leadership? Do most Christians understand and obey their mandate? If not, why and how can things change?
- Read John 15:18-23, Acts 20:22-25, Acts 21:4, 10-14, and 2 Timothy 3:12. Consider the prophetic words of warning to Paul. While the prophets’ messages of warning came from God, the people’s application of the word to flee persecution was not from God. According to 2 Timothy 4:17-18, what was God’s intended reason for telling Paul what he would face suffering? What does this mean for believers as we discern God’s will for our lives?
- Read 2 Timothy 4:3-4, 2 Peter 3:15-16 and Revelation 22:18-19. In Acts 20:27, what does Paul mean when he said he preached the full counsel of God? What are the reasons Christians avoid speaking the truth? What are some current hot topics Christians tend to avoid? What is at stake if we don’t speak the truth?
Taking it Home:
- Take inventory, how well are you doing in fulfilling God’s call for your life? Is there something you have failed to obey? If so, what?
