LIFE GROUP QUESTIONS

Getting to know you:
  1. Share about a time you had to wait for something you wanted and maybe even prayed for. How did you feel while waiting?

Digging Deeper:
  1. Read Acts 2:42-47. The believers were unified in heart and mind, prioritizing the needs of others. What purpose did their possessions play in loving others?  Read Matthew 6:19-21, 1 Timothy 6:6-10, 1 Timothy 6:17-19, Proverbs 11:24 and Proverbs 13:22. What do the Scriptures say about giving to the needy? What would a balanced biblical view be towards money?  What responsibilities go along with being wealthy?
  2. Read Acts 1:1-8, Matthew 3:11-12, Mark 1:4-8.  What is the baptism of the Spirit?  How is that different from bodily baptism? Read John 18:25, John 20:19 and then Acts 4:23-31 and Galatians 5:16-18. Consider the lives of the disciples before and after the baptism of the Spirit.  What spiritual power did the baptism of the Spirit bring into the lives of the disciples that the physical presence of Christ did not?
  3. Read Acts 1:4, Acts 1:8, 1 Samuel 13:8-14 and Psalm 40:1-3. How does Jesus’ command to stay in Jerusalem and wait for the Holy Spirit demonstrate the importance of God’s timing?  In what ways do we still need to wait on the Lord today?

Taking  it Home
  1. Review the way the early church functioned and compare it to your Life Group.  Are there any differences?  What are some of the strengths of your Life Group?  Are there any areas where your Life Group could improve? Brainstorm some ideas to turn these into a reality.
