LIFE GROUP QUESTIONS

Acts 2:1-13

Getting to Know You:
  1. Describe a time you accomplished something that you thought was impossible. To what or whom did you credit your success?
Digging Deeper:
  1. Read Acts 2:1-13, Acts 10:44-47, 1 Corinthians 12:30-31 and 1 Corinthians 14:1-19, and 1 Corinthians 14:27-30. Compare the tongues in Acts 2 with Paul’s description of tongues in 1 Corinthians, noting specifically 1 Corinthians 14:2. What are the similarities and differences? What role did tongues play in salvation? How is or isn’t tongues a gift for today?  Who can receive the gift of tongues?  How should it be used in group settings?
  2. Read Acts 2:5-11, Matthew 28:16-20, Genesis 12:2-3, Psalm 67:1-3, Malachi 1:11, Ezekiel 36:22-27, 36. Describe God’s heart for the nations?  What part was Israel supposed to play in the salvation of the nations?  What is the church’s role in the salvation of the nations? How is it different from Israel’s role?  
  3. Read Acts 2:36-41, Acts 8:34-38, Acts 10:44-48 and Acts 16:30-33. After the preaching of Peter, what was the first thing the believers were commanded to do after they believed? Why is baptism so important? What are the spiritual ramifications if we wait a long time or decide not to get baptized?
Taking it Home:
  1. Take a moment to consider your Christian walk.  Have you been baptized? Are you regularly sharing your faith with the lost?  If not, ask yourself why.  Then make a decision to step out in obedience this week.
