LIFE GROUP QUESTIONS

Acts 4:23-31  • Prayer for boldness

Getting to Know You:
  1. Have you ever been unjustly treated because of your faith?  How did you respond?
Digging Deeper:
  1. Read Acts 4:23-28 about the first instance of opposition and persecution in the book of Acts. Read Acts 5:40-42, Acts 7:54-60, Acts 16:20-25, Hebrews 10:32-34 and Luke 23:34. What were some of the responses of those being persecuted?  Is their response different than how believers typically respond in America today? Why do you think this is so and what needs to change?
  2. Read Matthew 5:10-12, 1 Peter 3:14-16, Romans 12:14-19 and James 1:2-3.  How does God tell us to respond to injustice and persecution? What should our perspective be?  How does changing our perspective affect the way we respond? Describe a time when you have faced opposition for your faith.  How did you respond?  How would you respond now?
  3.  Read Acts 4:27-31, 2 Corinthians 3:4-6 and 1 Corinthians 2:1-5.  Many believers don’t share because they lack boldness and feel inadequate.  How did the apostles feel?  How did they respond and what expectation of God did they have?  What are the implications for us today?
Taking it Home:
  1. Is there anyone in your sphere of influence with whom you are afraid to share Christ?  If so, share it with the group and have them pray for you.
