Study Guide
Jesus Is God. Paul declares that Jesus is the image of the invisible God. Through Christ, the unseen God is made visible. Jesus is fully God and fully man, revealing God’s nature and character to humanity. Understanding Christ correctly is foundational to understanding salvation and the Christian faith.
Something to think about: How does believing that Jesus is fully God affect the way you trust, worship, and follow Him?
Jesus Is Creator. Jesus created all things and continues to sustain all things. Everything in existence owes its origin and continued existence to Him. Because He is Creator, He is worthy of worship and has rightful authority over every area of our lives.
Something to think about: What areas of your life are difficult to surrender to Christ’s authority as Creator and Owner of all things?
Jesus Is the Head of the Church. Christ is the Head of His Church. The Church is a living body made up of redeemed people who follow His leadership and authority. Believers are called to submit to His Word and His direction rather than human preferences or cultural pressures.
Something to think about: Are there areas where you are following culture more closely than the leadership and authority of Jesus?
Jesus Is the Firstborn from the Dead. Jesus’ resurrection stands above all others because He rose never to die again. His resurrection confirms that His sacrifice was accepted by God and guarantees the future resurrection of all who trust in Him.
Something to think about: How does Christ’s resurrection give you confidence when facing fear, uncertainty, or death?
Jesus Is Our Reconciler. Sin broke humanity’s relationship with God, but Jesus restores that relationship completely. Through His work on the cross, believers are brought back into fellowship with God and can experience peace with Him.
Something to think about: How does knowing that God has fully reconciled you through Christ change the way you approach Him in prayer and worship?
Jesus Is Our Substitute. Jesus willingly took the penalty for sin on our behalf. Through His sacrificial death, believers receive forgiveness, righteousness, and acceptance before God. Salvation is not earned through works but received through faith in Christ alone.
Something to think about: How does Christ’s sacrifice challenge the tendency to rely on your own efforts rather than His finished work?
Jesus Is Our Hope. The Gospel is good news because it centers on Jesus Christ. True hope is found in Him alone. When believers remain grounded in the Gospel, they can stand firm despite cultural confusion, opposition, or competing truth claims.
Something to think about: What are you currently trusting in for hope, and how does it compare to the hope found in Jesus Christ?
