Getting to Know You:
  1. Which of the practices listed in Ephesians 5:8–21 do you find most difficult to practice regularly?

Digging Deeper:
  1. Read Ephesians 5:1–8, Galatians 6:1, and 1 John 3:7–8. Paul contrasts the life of one walking in light and darkness. What are the deeds of the flesh that Paul lists? What would Paul say to someone who engages in such behavior while claiming to be a Christian? How would you differentiate between a true believer who struggles with sin and someone claiming to be a believer who isn’t?
  2. Read Ephesians 5:8–21. What should be some of the practices if we live as children of light? What do exposing sin, being wise, singing, giving thanks, and submitting to one another accomplish in the body of Christ? Which of these things we are called to do is the most challenging to practice? Why?
  3. Read Ephesians 5:18 and Galatians 5:16–25. Why does Paul contrast being filled with the Spirit with being filled with wine? What does it look like to be filled with the Holy Spirit? How does one become filled with the Spirit? While believers desire to be filled with the Spirit, why don’t many experience the filling?

Taking it Home:
  1. Does your life mark one who is filled with the Spirit? If not, what is standing in the way? Take a moment to surrender every part of your life to His will.
