Getting to Know You:
  1. What is your most valuable possession? What gives it such great value?

Digging Deeper:
  1. Read 2 Kings 5:13-17, Acts 17:24–28, Romans 1:18–23, Romans 9:4–5, and Ephesians 2:11–12. Before Christ, what did the Jew have that the Gentile did not have? In the Old Testament, could the Gentiles be saved? If so, how?
  2. Read 2 Corinthians 5:17, Galatians 3:26–29, and Ephesians 2:13–19. Consider how different our pasts, positions in society, race, and abilities are. The world places “value” on people or “disqualifies” them because of these factors. How does the gospel strip all of this away? Consider King David’s promiscuity, Peter’s denial of Christ, and Paul’s persecution of the church. How would you respond to and evaluate someone with a past like theirs who wanted to be a pastor at your church?
  3. Read Ephesians 2:20–22 and 1 Peter 2:1–10. What does it mean the church is built on the foundation of Christ and the apostles? What does it mean that we are a holy race? What does it look like to be a holy priest and how do we offer spiritual sacrifices?

Taking It Home:
  1. Have you ever felt like a second-class Christian? If so, take a moment to be honest with your group and ask them to pray for you.
