Study Guide

1. The Call to Freedom – Galatians 5:13a
Paul reminds believers they were called to freedom, not bondage. But this freedom isn’t permission to sin—it’s a new way of living under grace.
Something to think about: How does knowing you’re not under the law but under grace change the way you live your daily life?

2. The Utilization of Freedom – Galatians 5:13b
Paul warns against using freedom selfishly and redirects believers toward love and service.
  • Incorrect: Using freedom for the flesh—living selfishly or indulgently.
  • Correct: Using freedom to serve others in love.
Something to think about: In what ways might you be using your freedom for yourself instead of serving others?

3. The Fulfillment in Freedom – Galatians 5:14
The entire law is fulfilled in one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”
Something to think about: What does it look like practically to fulfill the law by loving others this week?

4. The Destruction of Freedom – Galatians 5:15
When freedom is misused, it can lead to division and destruction within the body of Christ.
Something to think about: Are there places in your relationships where selfishness is leading to conflict instead of unity?
