- Read 2 Corinthians 5:17 and John 3:1-21. The success rate for the Christian-based Teen Challenge graduates is around 67-78% as compared to the secular AA program, which has a success rate of 5-10% which is roughly the same statistically as those who decide to quit on their own without any program. Both programs focus on stopping substance abuse; what are the factors that make the difference? How can this be related to Christians focusing on changing policies and politics to reflect our values rather than focusing on the salvation of souls? What can we do practically to focus on real transformation?
- Read Matthew 24:18-20, Luke 6:40, John 8:31, John 13:34-35, and 2 Timothy 2:2. What is the goal of discipleship? What does it look like practically to disciple someone? Christians are all called to disciple others, but most don’t. What are some of the reasons why they don’t? What would you tell someone who says they are too busy to disciple someone?
- Read Mark 5:1-20. What is so powerful about a testimony? What is the beauty of both the testimony of someone raised in the church and the testimony of someone who grew up in the world? What would you say to someone who says their testimony isn’t powerful or important?
