Getting to Know You:
  1. What one man-made law would you wish you could change and why?

Digging Deeper:
  1. Read Matthew 5:20, Matthew 23:1-7, Galatians 3:1-5 and Galatians 5:16-26.  How well do religious people like the Pharisees do at obeying the Law?  How does the Spirit empower us to obey the Law in ways those without the Spirit can’t?  What are some characteristics we can observe in Christians who walk in their own strength and not in the Spirit?
  2. Read Psalm 119:97-104, 1 John 4:19, and 1 John 5:2-3.  Why do people typically not like laws?  How are God’s laws different than man’s?  When we consider our relational God, how does this change the way we look at His laws?  How can we grow in our love for God’s Law? 
  3. Read Galatians 3:6-9, Hebrews 11:1-16, and James 2:18-26.  Why is faith so important to God?  How would our view of God differ if we worked for our salvation?  How would you describe the relationship between faith and action as seen in Hebrews 11?

  1. Would you describe your life as one that is led by the Spirit?  If not, what needs to change?
