Getting to Know You:
  1. Describe a person you know who has gone through a transformation in their life. How did you react to this change? Did you believe they were sincere or did you have doubts?

Digging Deeper:
  1. Read Matthew 5:44, Acts 8:1-3, Acts 9:1-25, 1 Corinthians 4:19-21, 1 Corinthians 15:10 and 2 Timothy 1:3-4. How would you describe Paul before and after his conversion? Compare the similarities and differences before and after his transformation. Does this discussion give you a different perspective toward those who are hostile toward Christians today?
  2. Read Acts 5:17-21, Acts 7:54-60, Acts 8:26-27, Acts 9:10-18, and Acts 10:28-29.  What are God’s directives to his servants in these passages? What does each one require? How do these passages impact God’s call on your life? What do you think about the statement that the safest place to be is in the center of God’s will?  
  3. Recall Acts 9:10-18 and read 1 Corinthians 1:27-29, James 4:10, Hebrews 11:6 and 2 Timothy 1:7. What can we learn from Ananias’ initial hesitation, obedience and faith in fulfilling God’s purpose? In the end why do you think God chose an ordinary person like Ananias to restore Saul’s sight?
a. Read Ezekiel 36:26-27, 2 Corinthians 4:4, Hebrews 3:12, and Revelation 3:17.  What does Saul’s blindness signify spiritually and symbolically?  In what ways can we as believers be spiritually blinded? How can we protect ourselves from spiritual blindness?

Taking it Home:
How can Saul’s courage to face rejection and threats equip us to face opposition in sharing our faith? In what ways can you be more bold and courageous?
